Mindy Misty Synopsis. (for norsk versjon klikk her)

Mindy Misty is an indie band hailing from the artic spheres of Oslo/Norway. With background from indie/noise/lo-fi/black metal, and commodore 64 electronica, the band have developed a hard melodic indiesound which have been characterized as “Thermodynamic Indieswing”. The band adds a prog flavour to the traditional indie rock. A sorrowful, but thrusting nerve gives their music a capturing intensity and stamina. Lyrics span from folk inspired singer songwriter style to absurd non context surrealism. Detail guitar harmonies blends delicately into the mix, while the rhythm section contributes with a harder melvins like alibi.
Mindy Misty has existed as a band since 2003, during which time they’ve released the EP “Temporary, Flawless” as well as contributing to several comps. in Norway and the US. Their debut album “Protoplasma” is just out on Handmade Records. “Protoplasma” was recorded in Mindy Misty’s home studio 100% analogue live on tape. The record was mixed by legendary "Kramer" who’ve played with among others Butthole Surfers and Half Japanese as well as producing artists such as Lou Reed, Sun Ra, Debbie Harry, Low and Ween to mention a few.
Mindy Misty have established themselves as a solid and energetic live act, and are often booked to obscure art exhibits etc, but also at bigger venues and festivals. The band name originates from a manic depressive cat which contributed the lead vocal track to Mindy Misty’s first recording “Chicken Kitty” from the HMR comp. “Encephalopathia”. Mindy Misty’s members have been active in Oslo’s underground scene since mid 90’s in loads of different bands and projects including Star Bug, Laconic Zero, Candy Coated and Tokyo Noise Revolution.

"Mindy Misty is part of a growing indie/gitarnoise scene in Oslo and they should fit nicely into every twisted musiclover's taste. If you like the fabulous melodic twists and raw indiesound of bands like Pavement, Superchunk, Dinosaur Jr, Crazy Horse, Sebadoh, Modest Mouse, Frank Black and Sonic Youth - I'm pretty sure you will love Mindy Misty". – Rockeweb

”One of my all time favourite records is "Brighten the corners" by immortal Pavement. Mindy Misty is not tiresomely unlike Pavement, a tad harder though, and of course equipped with their own, hooks and mesmerizing effects. This song would be first choice substitution on the mentioned album, that’s how fabulous it is. It is indeed a strikingly intelligent tune.- This is melodic rock of the finest brand, and the guitar harmonies and vocals are just incomprehensively elegant.” – rockeweb about “leave it like it is” from “from the spheres of gog magog”

”Mindy Misty surprises with a prog flavour to the sorrowful junior dinosaur” – Mute magazine

”Just to grab hold of this little gem gives me a good feeling, a massive slab of black vinyl that must clock in at 100 grams, around the double of an ordinary vinyl single. Combine that with a thick cover in delicate black and red, and I'm almost sold even before the needle hits the fan. When it does it's back to the early 90ties time, post grunge fuzzpop that crawls in the darker corner of the mind. Makes me for some reason want to bring out my Girls vs Boys or Arcwelder singles again. It's been a long time since last time... Anyone remember Cell? With perfect singles like Stratosphere or Cross the River, but still largely forgotten today. Maybe Mindy Misty can bring about a renewed interest for those bands, and even make their own mark on this legacy.” –lunacafe about the EP “Temporary, Flawless”
